About Pine Mountain Project

The Pine Mountain Project was founded by Robert Wiley, a long-time resident of Atascadero, California, who has spent many years living at the foot of Pine Mountain. Over the past 50 years, Robert has observed the gradual decline of Pine Mountain’s once-vibrant pine forest, marked by the death of numerous pine trees, loss of foliage, and increasing landslides that threaten the landscape’s stability and beauty.

Moved by these changes and inspired by global initiatives like Africa’s Green Belt Movement—where innovative techniques are used to transform deserts into lush forests—Robert envisioned the Pine Mountain Project as a way to create awareness and offer solutions to restore and preserve local ecosystems.

The project’s mission is to foster sustainable practices and engage the community in revitalizing Pine Mountain and other vulnerable areas, turning barren lands back into thriving, green environments. By combining traditional knowledge with modern restoration strategies, the Pine Mountain Project seeks to reconnect people with nature and inspire positive environmental change.

Join us in this journey to bring Pine Mountain back to life and set an example for ecological restoration across the world.
